Skunks hunt at night. They eat fruits, berries, eggs, rodents and reptiles. Skunks can’t run very fast, and aren’t very good fighters. They warn predators away by stamping their front feet and raising their tail. If that doesn’t work, the predator is in big trouble from the horrible scent that the skunk can spray.

Owls eat skunks. An owl is able to attack swiftly and silently from above. It can grab a baby skunk before its mother has a chance to spray the owl in self-defense.
