These odd-looking shellfish are built just right to withstand the strong push and pull of tides and waves on rocky Pacific shores. Their shells stick out from a long “neck,” which gives them their name. Since they grow together in clusters, you can’t always see their goose “necks.” Goose Barnacles can turn to face each wave that goes over them. Each time a wave passes, they strain food from the rushing seawater.
