Lupine Lupinus Spp. |

There are many varieties of Lupine. Some grow as
tall as a bush and are bright yellow, while others grow flat on the ground,
making a carpet of blue. The leaves are shaped like a hand with five
fingers. The fingers follow the sun during the day and then fold up at
night. For this reason Lupine is called the Sun Dial Plant. The seed pods
are like a pea. As they ripen and dry, they twist into a corkscrew shape,
eventually popping open to spread the seeds in a tiny explosion. |
