Hermit Crab Pagurus samuelis |
A Hermit crab doesn't have a shell, so it finds an empty snail shell to protect its soft abdomen. As it grows, the shell feels too small and the Hermit crab has to go and find another one. It won't attack a living snail to steal its shell. But if it sees another Hermit Crab wearing a shell it likes, it will fight the Hermit Crab for it. Hermit crabs eat seaweed and dead animals. |
