|
Sea cucumbers live in shallow kelp forests and down to the deepest parts of the ocean. They are related to star fish and sea urchins, and can grow to 20 inches long. They are scavengers, eating plankton, algae and small particles of dead plants and animals that drift down to the sea bottom. Because of this they are called the "earthworms of the sea." They are eaten by fishes and crabs. In some countries, people cook them in soup. |
