	This butterfly has “eye spots” on its wings. Can you imagine how those spots might look to a bird? The bird will think it is the eyes of a large animal, and will not attack the butterfly. Most butterflies will drink nectar from a variety of plants. But they are careful to choose only certain plants when they are laying eggs. The eggs develop into caterpillars, and the caterpillars eat the plant as they grow. Buckeye butterflies usually choose Plantains, Snapdragons and Monkeyflowers.
