What kind of plant offers these things: a home to songbirds; protective cover for lizards and garter snakes; a resting place for migrating birds; a way to hold soil together? Coyote Brush does all that. It can be the size of a bush or tree, and has scraggly, woody branches.

This plant blooms in the fall, with fuzzy “Coyote fur” blossoms. There are male plants and female plants. The male plant produces tan flowers; the female plant produces white ones.
